Participants in the May 2015 workshop on farmer-led research agreed on recommendations for decision- and policymakers in agricultural research and development.
Representatives from West African farmer organisations, national and international research institutions, national and international development organisations, and technical and financial partners took part in a workshop on approaches to farmer-led research on 12-14 May 2015 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. This was held just before the West African Farmer Innovation Fair (FIPAO in French: Foire de l’Innovation Paysanne en l’Afrique de l’Ouest).
Based on the case studies of farmer-led research and discussions during the workshop, the participants prepared the Ouagadougou Declaration (French version) (English version) targeted at government officials, researchers and farmer organisations.
