The multistakeholder platform Prolinnova–Kenya organised an International Farmer Innovation Fair & Conference on the theme “Two decades of promoting farmer-led participatory innovation development (PID) for enhanced climate change resilience, food and nutrition security and sustainable natural resource management” in Nairobi in April 2024. Farmer innovators from 11 African countries had come together in person to share their innovations at the Kilimo Grand Resort and were joined online by farmer innovators from Asia. The event was funded by the 11th Hour Project of the Schmidt Family Foundation. The main aim of the event was to provide farmer innovators with a space and podium to present their innovations and experiences in working together with other actors in agricultural research and development (ARD). The conference – with active participation by the farmer innovators – explored the issue of effectively integrating the approach of farmer-led co-innovation into formal ARD institutions.
