This report provides a summary of the Eastern and Southern Africa Prolinnova Platform (ESAPP) coordination meeting, held virtually on 30 April 2025. The primary objective was to confirm the membership of the coordination and governance structures of the ESAPP. The meeting, which was attended by representatives from five Country Platforms (CPs) in the Prolinnova Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Subregion, served as a follow-up to the previous session in October 2024, when ESAPP membership and governance structures were initially discussed, including the establishment of the Eastern and Southern Africa Prolinnova Platform Support Team (ESAST) and the Eastern and Southern Africa Prolinnova Oversight Group (EOG).
The key outcomes of this meeting are as follows:
Membership confirmation: South Africa, Uganda, Mozambique, Kenya and Sudan each confirmed two representatives in the ESAPP.
Governance structures: The roles of ESAPP, ESAST, and EOG were clarified with an emphasis on the importance of clear membership and representation. Romuald Rutazihana (Prolinnova–Mozambique) and Mawahib Ahamed (Prolinnova–Sudan) volunteered to join the SRC, thus completing the ESAST membership.
Nominations for Oversight Group: A structured timeline was established for the nomination process of the EOG. CPs were required to submit their nominees by 7 May 2025.
Challenges: Some participants highlighted operational challenges faced by their CPs due to ongoing conflicts in Sudan and Mozambique.
Next steps and action items: Participants were assigned tasks to follow up on nominations from their respective CPs for three individuals who would sit on the EOG.
