The Prolinnova Oversight Group (POG), the governance mechanism of the Prolinnova network, has a new composition after recent elections and held its first (virtual) meeting on 25 November 2014. The POG consists of 9 persons: 4 elected by the Country Platforms (CPs) and 1 by the International Support Team (IST) plus 4 independent persons, nominated and elected by the CPs and IST.
The new members of the POG are Chris Macoloo (anglophone African CP seat, replacing Amanuel Assefa), Ann Waters-Bayer (IST seat, replacing Marise Espineli) and Juergen Anthofer and Pratap Shrestha (independent seats, replacing Susan Kaaria and Scott Killough). The new members join the continuing POG members Jean Bosco Etoa (francophone African CP seat), Suman Manadhar (Asian CP seat), Sergio Larrea (Andes seat) and Esther Penunia and Julian Gonsalves (independent seats). The Skype meeting gave the members an opportunity to get to know each other. To the POG members who had come to the end of their terms, thanks were given for their contributions during their years of service in advising and overseeing the work of Prolinnova. As these members included both POG co-chairs – Susan Kaaria and Marise Espineli – the POG members named two new co-chairs: Ann Waters-Bayer and Jean Bosco Etoa.
The new POG reviewed the current activities of the Prolinnova partners and gave suggestions for generating more funds, also for new CPs such as the one recently started up by members in the Philippines. The next POG meeting, this time face-to-face, will take place in Ethiopia immediately before the Prolinnova International Partners Workshop in late April 2015.
