Fanos Mekonnen carried out research in Cambodia and Ethiopia (Tigray) into how participatory innovation development (PID) is being integrated into government extension systems. Her findings, showing how committed partners at the grassroots level can integrate a participatory approach into hierarchical government systems to improve smallholder agricultural development, are summarised in this 4-page Prolinnova brief.
