LINEX-CCA project completed!!

The 3-year LINEX-CCA project supported by Misereor in the group of three Asian countries - Cambodia, India and Nepal - was completed in December 2014.

Misereor-supported project LINEX-CCA in Asia

On 1 January 2012, a regional programme was started by Prolinnova partners in Cambodia, India and Nepal. “Local INnovation and EXperimentation: an entry point to Climate-Change Adaptation for sustainable livelihoods in Asia“ is known as LINEX–CCA for short. Misereor, Germany, is funding this for three years. The content coordination of LINEX–CCA lies with LI-BIRD in Nepal, the administrative coordination with CEDAC in Cambodia. The overall aim is, by using participatory innovation development (PID), to improve the livelihoods of rural communities, especially women, that depend on agriculture and are vulnerable to climate change. Also the capacities of local organisations will be strengthened to support these innovating, experimenting and adapting communities. Evidence will be provided to feed into policy dialogue at national and international level, designed to increase recognition of local capacities and initiatives in dealing with climate change.

2013 meeting of LINEX–CCA partners

Members of the Prolinnova country platforms in Cambodia, India and Nepal involved in the LINEX–CCA (Local INnovation and EXperimentation for Climate Change Adaptation) project supported by Misereor, Germany, met on 25 May 2013, ahead of the Prolinnova International Partners Workshop (IPW). Suman Manandhar (LI-BIRD, Nepal), Sonali Bisht (INHERE, India), Sam Vitou (CEDAC, Cambodia) and Chesha Wettasinha (ETC Foundation, Netherlands) attended the meeting. The main issues discussed were: community perceptions on the impacts of climate change as identified through the baseline studies; local innovation to adapt to these impacts and how it can be supported through a process of participatory innovation development (PID); and capacity building of communities and local stakeholders to engage in a process of PID. The Asian CP partners of LINEX–CCA and the CP partners in the CLIC–SR (Combining Local Innovative Capacity with Scientific Research) project in eastern Africa had a joint session in monitoring and evaluation facilitated by Prolinnova International Support Team member Marise Espineli from IIRR in the Philippines.
