From 30 May to 1 June 2012, the Agricultural and Rural Development Department of the World Bank hosted an international workshop in Washington DC on “Investing in and Strengthening Agricultural Innovation Systems”. The 3-day event brought together people from both inside and outside the World Bank to launch the Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) Sourcebook and to discuss the findings presented in it. These included a chapter about Prolinnova partners’ experience in piloting Local Innovation Support Funds (LISFs), with Bernard Triomphe (CIRAD, France) as lead author. Ann Waters-Bayer of the Prolinnova International Secretariat in ETC Foundation gave a brief summary of this during the IGNITE session at the AIS workshop: “Farmer-managed funds for local innovation“. Prolinnova was also asked to prepare an input and facilitate a working group discussion on climate-resilient agriculture and agricultural innovation systems: introduction; PPT presentation. Bernard also took part in the workshop and made a presentation on the activities of JOLISAA (Joint Learning in Innovation Systems in African Agriculture) and other CIRAD initiatives on innovation systems.
