From 30 May to 1 June 2012, the Agricultural and Rural Development Department of the World Bank hosted an international workshop in Washington DC on “Investing in and Strengthening Agricultural Innovation Systems”. The 3-day event brought together people from inside and outside the World Bank to launch the Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) Sourcebook and to discuss its findings. These include a chapter about Prolinnova partners’ experience in piloting Local Innovation Support Funds (LISFs), with Bernard Triomphe (CIRAD, France) as lead author. Co-author Ann Waters-Bayer of the Prolinnova International Secretariat, ETC Foundation, gave a summary of this during the IGNITE session at the AIS workshop: “Farmer-managed funds for local innovation“. She also facilitated a working group discussion on climate-resilient agriculture and AIS: see the 2-page introduction to and PPT presentation on this and the working group report prepared by Rupert Best of Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Bernard made a presentation on JOLISAA (Joint Learning in Innovation Systems in African Agriculture) and other CIRAD initiatives on innovation systems.
