With the facilitation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Vincent Mariadho – Prolinnova–Kenya Coordinator – participated in the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Expo City 2020, Dubai, on 30 November to 5 December 2023. The event is an annual global summit convened by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on matters concerning climate change.
Vincent was involved in two side events as a panelist. The first panel session on 4 December was on “Innovative Solutions for Community Resilience: A Partnership between the Doers and Funders”. This session was hosted by UNDP under the Adaptation Innovation Marketplace (AIM) in the Climate Action: Innovation Zone. AIM is AFCIA’s strategic platform through the UNDP that promotes scaled-up adaptation at the local level. The panel consisted of four local champions (PK being one of them), a donor and impact-oriented philanthropy led by Princess Lamia bint Majid AlSaud.

On 5 December, Vincent took part in an AFCIA side event at the Global Innovation Hub for announcing an expansion in the AFCIA programme with two new agencies – the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) – that are coming on board with a view to championing the mission of the Adaptation Fund. The event also unveiled two AFCIA initiatives implemented by UNIDO and WFP and showcased innovative climate adaptation entrepreneurs. PK’s contribution to the Adaptation Fund mission was curtain-raised by a speech from the UNDP Head of Climate Change Adaptation, Srilata Kammila. Vincent gave a brief on Prolinnova, its approach, and the activities and milestones achieved with the Locally Formulated Dairy Goat Meal (Lofoda) Innovation project supported by AFCIA through the UNDP.
