The Farmer-led Research Network (FaReNe) project is a joint project of Prolinnova partners in Burkina Faso and Mali with financial support from the McKnight Foundation and technical support from the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), host of the Prolinnova international secretariat. It looks at how best to organise and use farmer-led innovation approaches, such as Participatory Innovation Development (PID), Local Innovation Support Facility/Fund (LISF) and farmer networking, and how these can contribute to agro-ecological intensification. ADAF-Gallè, the host organisation of the Country Platform in Mali, hosted a writeshop for partners from both countries in late 2018. The team in Mali produced the following three documents (in French) on their past three years of experiences with PID, LISFs and farmer-led research networks:
- Améliorer les conditions de vie des communautés locales grâce au Développement Participatif de l’Innovation : développer un partenariat entre paysans, conseillers agricoles et chercheurs pour la promotion de l’innovation paysanne dans l’intensification agro-écologiques
- Soutenir les innovations locales à travers un mécanisme alternatif de finance : le fonds d’appui augmente la résilience des paysans à faibles ressources dans les régions de Ségou et de Mopti au Mali
- Stimuler l’apprentissage mutuel lié aux expériences en agro-écologie : les expériences de réseautage autour des expérimentations conjoints et le fonds d’appui aux innovations locales dans les régions de Ségou et de Mopti
