Prolinnova was invited by Aquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS) as a CSO partner to take part in the presentation and discussion of the CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs) in June 2013 at the CGIAR Consortium office in Montpellier, France. CRP leaders, donors and selected partners discussed the Intermediate Development Outcomes (IDOs), theories of change, impact pathways and indicators of progress toward development made by the CRPs.
The Prolinnova network is partnering with two of the CRPs: AAS and CCAFS (Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security). The Montpellier meeting offered an opportunity to explore how we could combine forces in providing evidence that a Research in Development (RinD) approach can contribute to improving smallholder farmers’ livelihoods. RinD involves embedding research in development processes in a way that strengthens capacities to innovate and adapt. This resonates well with the Prolinnova approach of supporting farmer-led participatory experimentation and innovation to enhance local resilience and innovative capacity.
