PROFEIS–Mali is being funded by Misereor for a 5th 3-year phase from April 2021 to May 2024. It includes a new action-learning site – Dioila in Koulikoro Region – where information is being disseminated about farmer innovations already identified in the Segou and Mopti Regions.
With a view to institutionalising the Participatory Innovation Development (PID) approach within agricultural research and development (ARD), PROFEIS–Mali is embarking on a new path called “Programme de Développement Economique et Culturel” (PDSEC; Economic & Cultural Development Programme). The grassroots communities with their elected representatives identify their interests in ARD. The farmers’ innovation platform meets every six months. Information, training and advocacy workshops are held at grassroots level to ensure that the PID approach is understood and increasingly applied. The CP is collaborating with the Comité National des Utilisateurs de la Recherché (CNU; National Committee of Research Users), the Comité National de la Recherche Agricole (CNRA; National Committee of Agricultural Research) and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique et Technologique (CNRST; National Centre for Scientific and Technological Research) in Mali.
