Introduction

The IST supports Prolinnova partners through network coordination and mentoring as well as various activities to raise the profile of the network and to inform the world about approaches and outcomes in promoting local innovation and supporting participatory innovation development (PID). Its tasks include:

  • Backstopping/mentoring on promoting local innovation and PID, Country and Subregional Platform development and governance, fundraising, project administration & financial procedures, capacity strengthening, policy dialogue to institutionalise PID, and M&E managed by the network partners
  • Coordination and co-facilitation of international Prolinnova workshops and conferences and related reports and publications
  • Knowledge management and dissemination by encouraging and facilitating communication and publication about Prolinnova through printed materials and Web-based media, including managing the Prolinnova GoogleGroup, Facebook page and website
  • Secretarial support for the Prolinnova Oversight Group, the network’s governance body.

The IST members are people with many years’ experience in the Prolinnova network who have volunteered to provide support to network members. Most of their work is pro bono; some activities are partly financed through externally funded projects under the Prolinnova umbrella. The current members of the IST are listed here.

Two members are with the Agrecol Association for AgriCulture & Ecology, a German membership-based NGO that is the Northern Focal Point of the Prolinnova network. Agrecol cultivates links with European partners (NGOs, universities, research organisations, private sector etc) for joint initiatives in promoting local innovation and farmer-led research and development, as well as links to potential donors in the North.
