At the National Farmers’ Day on 1 December 2023 celebrated throughout Ghana, 12 farmer innovators (11 women, 1 man) working with Prolinnova-Ghana had an opportunity to exhibit their innovations, discuss with local policymakers and receive awards from them. Samuel Atia, the Prolinnova-Ghana coordinator, and Joe Nchor, the coordinator of the Misereor-funded project “Expanding the Promotion of Local Innovation for Food Security and Healthy Nutrition to Strengthen Resilience with a Focus on Women” (ELI-FANS), provide a photo-report on this event. Involvement in the National Farmers’ Day forms part of the policy-dialogue activities in the ELI-FaNS project to encourage agricultural research and development actors, political authorities and decision-makers to recognise the immense contribution of farmer innovation and farmer-led joint research to improving household food security and incomes of rural small-scale farming families.
