Prolinnova partners in Bolivia, Ethiopia and Nepal jointly produced an issue paper in the GTZ series People, Food and Biodiversity, as part of the sector project Sustainable Management of Resources in Agriculture, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) (www.gtz.de/en/themen/umwelt-infrastruktur/18501.htm). Entitled “Promoting local innovation in managing agricultural biodiversity”, it has been published in four languages: English, French, Spanish and German. It brings examples of local innovation in plant domestication and breeding and in collective action for alternative uses and markets for indigenous plants.
The paper will be distributed at a meeting on Biocultural Community Protocols in September 2010 in South Africa as well as the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Conventional on Biological Diversity (CBD) in October 2010 in Japan.
