As part of the regionalisation process within the Prolinnova network, two subregional coordinators (SRCs) were appointed part-time in Africa, with funding through the SULCI-FaNS (Scaling Up Local Capacity to Innovation for Food and Nutrition Security) project. In the Eastern & Southern Africa subregion, Jacob Wanyama started work as the new SRC in June 2020, taking over from the interim SRC Brigid Letty.
Upon completion of Year 1 of SULCI-FaNS (1 Oct 2019 to 30 Sept 2020), Wanyama compiled a report on the status of each of the eight Country Platforms (CPs) in the subregion: in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. He also reported on the activities at subregional level related to regionalisation, capacity building, documentation, networking, policy dialogue and fundraising, and has outlined activities planned in Year 2 of the SULCI-FaNS project. The 16-page report can be found here.
