Pour faire face au manque d’eau pour la culture du manguier, les paysans du village de Keur Ndiogou Ndiaye, dans le centre-ouest du Sénégal, ont mis au point une innovation qui permet de faire pousser des manguiers sans arrosage. L’innovation consiste à planter les manguiers dans des arbustes de Piliostigma reticulatum (Wolof: Nguiguis) qui vont assurer l’alimentation en eau du manguier durant la saison sèche. Mango trees that grow without watering
To deal with water constraints in mango production, smallholder farmers in the village of Keur Ndiogou Ndiaye in central-west Senegal have developed an innovation that allows them to grow mangos without watering the trees. The innovation consists of planting mango trees inside shrubs of Piliostigma reticulum (Wolof: Nguiguis) to make sure that the trees receive water during the dry season.
